After breakfast at your hotel, we will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. with our tourist transport and head to the district of Chinchero, specifically the village of Pongobamba, about 40 minutes away. This beautiful town sits beside Piuray Lagoon, where a group of locals dressed in colorful traditional attire will welcome us with music and joy, sharing their customs with us.
You will then enjoy the company of llamas and alpacas while admiring the view of Piuray Lagoon, nestled among the Andean mountains. As we walk with the locals, accompanied by their music and songs, you’ll learn how llamas and alpacas were historically used as pack animals to transport goods across the Andes. You’ll have the chance to wear traditional clothing for photos, creating lasting memories.
During the trek, you’ll also learn about the use of local medicinal plants and the agricultural products grown in the area. We will uncover the mystery, history, and origin of Piuray Lagoon.
After this enriching trek, we’ll enjoy a delicious picnic featuring a variety of fruits and wines with a stunning view of Piuray Lagoon. Surrounded by llamas and alpacas, this will be an unforgettable experience. In the afternoon, we’ll return to Cusco, following the same route, and drop you off at your hotel around 2:00 p.m.
