If you’re seeking tranquility and a deep connection with nature, this tour to the 7 lagoons is an unmissable experience. We’ll depart from Cusco in the morning, driving through the southern valley, passing towns like Urcos, the native villages of Ccatca and Ocongate, until reaching Pacchanta, where you’ll enjoy breakfast and lunch in the home of a local family.
Throughout the tour, you’ll witness breathtaking landscapes, diverse high-Andean flora and fauna, and experience being surrounded by towering mountains and glaciers. You’ll marvel at the stunning views of the colorful lagoons and, after the hike, unwind with a relaxing soak in the Pacchanta hot springs. We’ll then return to Cusco after this unforgettable mountain adventure.
Why You’ll Love This Trip:
Around 4:00 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel and head south of Cusco, passing through Urcos and Ccatca. We’ll stop at a scenic viewpoint to admire distant glaciers and Andean mountains before continuing to Ocongate and finally reaching Pacchanta, located at 4,100 meters above sea level. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast at a local family’s home.
From this point, we’ll begin our trek along the Vilcanota mountain range with views of the Ausangate glacier. The hike lasts approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, crossing streams and passing local shepherds with their alpacas and llamas. You’ll visit the colorful lagoons of Qomerqocha and Alcacocha before reaching the Ninaparayoc viewpoint at 4,800 meters (15,748 ft).
After completing this section of the Seven Lagoons trail, we’ll return to Pacchanta, passing by Patacocha, Otorongococha, and Azulcocha. Back in Pacchanta, we’ll enjoy a delicious locally-sourced lunch and conclude the day with a relaxing soak in the Pacchanta hot springs at 4,200 m.a.s.l. (13,780 ft).
Finally, we’ll head back to Cusco, taking with us unforgettable memories of this magnificent experience in the Vilcanota Valley.
